Christopher Journet Arrested for Motorcycle Theft

Ex-officer accused of stealing bike from local resident

by Sophia Bennett

A former St. Martinville police officer, Christopher Journet, has been arrested and charged with felony theft following allegations that he stole a motorcycle from a local resident.

According to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, Journet was taken into custody on Monday and booked into the parish jail. The incident stems from a complaint received on September 11, when a citizen reported that Journet, while off-duty, had asked to take his motorcycle for a quick ride around the block from the Lil Easy club but never returned with the bike.

After an internal administrative review, St. Martinville Police Chief Ricky Martin referred the case to the Sheriff’s Office, which launched a criminal investigation. Journet was eventually arrested based on findings from that probe.

Authorities also confirmed that Journet has since been terminated from the police department, although they noted the firing was due to unrelated matters.

As of now, no bail information has been released. The investigation into the alleged theft is ongoing.
