DAVIESS COUNTY, KY (WFIE) — A man has been arrested after a serious hit-and-run crash that left a woman and two children injured on Highway 144 in Daviess County.
According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident in the 3900 block of Highway 144. Witnesses reported that the driver of a black SUV exited the parking lot of a local tavern and pulled directly into the path of an oncoming vehicle traveling eastbound.
The impact resulted in significant injuries to a woman and two children, who were transported to the hospital for moderate to severe injuries, including a broken bone.
Authorities say the SUV driver, later identified as Christopher Hinton, fled the scene before emergency responders arrived. Deputies later located and arrested Hinton at his home.
Although Hinton had consumed alcohol, authorities concluded there was insufficient evidence to pursue DUI charges at the time of arrest.
He was taken to the Daviess County Detention Center, where he faces multiple charges:
Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree (3 counts)
Assault 2nd Degree
Leaving the Scene of an Accident / Failure to Render Aid
The investigation remains ongoing.
