Stoke-on-Trent, UK – Two people have been arrested after 51-year-old Christopher Deaville was killed in a hit-and-run involving a stolen car on Friday night.
The fatal collision occurred around 9:00 p.m. on Newcastle Lane in Penkhull. Deaville, a pedestrian, was struck by a black Mini Cooper believed to have been stolen days earlier from York Road in Stafford between April 9 and 10.
Staffordshire Police said the vehicle was later discovered abandoned and heavily damaged in an alley off Birks Street and Campbell Road.
A 20-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, both from Stoke-on-Trent, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. They remain in custody as investigations continue.
According to authorities, the stolen Mini was seen speeding on Newcastle Lane at the time of the collision. The driver reportedly turned onto Penkhull New Road, then onto London Road, before entering the Boothen Old Road estate and ultimately abandoning the vehicle.
Police are urging anyone who saw the car that night or has dashcam footage or information to come forward.
