Two Arrested in Walnut Cove AC Theft Following Security Check

WALNUT COVE, NC — A routine security check at a residence on Dodgetown Road on July 30 led to the arrest of two individuals after an air conditioning unit was discovered missing.

According to the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office, deputies discovered the missing unit during the check and quickly contacted the homeowner, who confirmed the AC unit had been stolen.

Following an investigation, authorities identified Christopher Loyd Cox and Anthony Stephen Owens as the primary suspects. The Stokes County Special Investigations Division (SID) conducted a targeted traffic stop, during which both men were taken into custody without incident.

Charges related to the theft are expected to follow as the case proceeds. The Sheriff’s Office did not release further details regarding recovery of the stolen property or additional charges.
