LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — A 28-year-old Maryland man, Christopher Cherry, has been arrested and extradited to Pennsylvania after allegedly stealing a 2022 Audi Q3 from a dealership in New Holland, Lancaster County earlier this year.
The theft occurred on January 18, 2025, at a business located on the 3300 block of Division Highway in Earl Township. Surveillance footage captured Cherry arriving at the dealership and inquiring about two vehicles that were for sale. He allegedly drove off with the Audi Q3, valued at $29,500, and also took the key fob to a 2019 Audi A5, police reported.
Using onboard vehicle tracking technology, detectives located the stolen vehicle just three days later on January 21 in Seabrook, Maryland, on Brightlea Drive. A man was found sleeping inside the vehicle, and further investigation confirmed that it was Christopher Cherry.
After securing a warrant, Cherry was arrested by D.C. Metro Police on May 29. He was extradited back to Pennsylvania on June 2 and has since been arraigned. He faces charges including:
Felony theft by unlawful taking
One misdemeanor offense
Cherry is currently being held on $40,000 bail.
Authorities credit vehicle technology and cross-state cooperation for the swift recovery and arrest. The investigation was led by the New Holland Police Department.
