A married Illinois teacher has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old student she was tutoring.
Christina Formella, 30, was taken into custody on Sunday and charged with sexual assault and abuse. Prosecutors allege the inappropriate relationship occurred in December 2023 during a tutoring session at Downers Grove South High School.
The case came to light when the boy’s mother discovered incriminating text messages after purchasing him a new phone. Investigators reportedly found additional evidence supporting the claim.
Formella Denies Allegations
During police questioning, Formella denied having sex with the student. She allegedly told authorities that people come after her because she is “good looking” and that she “cared too much” about the teen.
When confronted with the text messages, Formella claimed the boy had hacked her phone, sent the messages to himself, and then used them to blackmail her.
