A Peterborough drug dealer was arrested after police discovered a significant stash of drugs and cash during an investigation into a disturbance at a property.
Daniel McCarroll, 26, had been drinking at the home when officers arrived shortly before noon on June 24. Police were called to the scene after reports of a disturbance, and upon arrival, McCarroll was found intoxicated.
Suspicious of McCarroll’s actions as he appeared to be shouting to someone nearby, police searched the garden and uncovered a bag containing nearly £7,000 in cash and a black tin filled with drugs, including cocaine, ketamine, and MDMA. The street value of the drugs was estimated at over £8,000.
McCarroll, who resides on Peake Close in Peterborough, was later charged and appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on October 1. He was sentenced to a total of four years in prison: 47 months for possession with intent to supply cocaine, nine months concurrently for possession of ketamine, and one month consecutively for breaching a suspended sentence. He had pleaded guilty to all charges earlier in the proceedings.
Detective Constable Josh Crown commented, “The officer’s attention to detail led to the discovery of this large sum of drugs and cash. We are pleased with the court’s decision, which sends a strong message to McCarroll and others involved in illegal drug trafficking. The drugs were destroyed, and the cash was forfeited.”
