The Delhi Police have arrested Chothmal Saini (44), a resident of Sikar, Rajasthan, for allegedly defrauding a woman of Rs29 lakh through a fake online investment platform disguised as a part-time job opportunity.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Amit Goel, the victim, a woman, was lured into what she believed was a legitimate online part-time job. She was redirected to a website where she was encouraged to invest money, with fake returns credited to her digital dashboard to build trust.

“Believing the scheme to be genuine, the woman kept depositing money across multiple bank accounts provided by the scammers,” said DCP Goel. The fraudsters, posing as investment advisors, maintained communication with her through social media chats, further manipulating her into increasing her investments.

When the dashboard falsely showed her returns reaching several crores, she attempted to withdraw profits, only to be denied access. Realizing she had been scammed, she filed a police complaint.

Saini was already wanted in two separate cyber fraud cases and was tracked and apprehended during the investigation into this case.

Police are continuing their probe to identify other members of the fraud network and trace the siphoned funds.
