A 32-year-old man, Chota Lal Singh, has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife, Preeti Singh (28), by assaulting her with a rolling pin (belan) during a domestic quarrel, police said on Tuesday.
The couple, originally from Madhya Pradesh, had been living with their two young children in Chokkasandra and worked at a private company. Chota Lal, employed as a helper, reportedly frequently harassed his wife, both mentally and physically, often without provocation.
On September 24, when Preeti returned home during her lunch break, a heated argument broke out. In a fit of rage, Chota Lal attacked her using a rolling pin, delivering multiple blows to her head and body. She succumbed to her injuries shortly after.
Police launched an investigation based on neighbor alerts and statements from witnesses. Chota Lal was taken into custody and booked for murder under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Authorities have also confirmed that the children are now in protective care, and further investigation is ongoing.
