Chirawa police arrested four individuals on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in the theft of jewellery worth Rs30 lakh. All four accused were presented in court and sent to five-day police custody.
According to Chirawa Station Officer Asharam Gurjar, the case was filed by Arif on November 29. Arif reported that his neighbour, Vishal Bhalothia, along with associates, intimidated his 13-year-old son, obtained the key to a cupboard, and stole jewellery worth approximately Rs30 lakh.
Investigation revealed that Bhalothia and his associates, Vikrant Sharma and Atul Sharma, first befriended Arif’s two sons. Over time, they gained access to the house and focused on befriending the younger 13-year-old. Using intimidation, they obtained the cupboard key.
On one occasion, when most family members were attending a wedding, the accused stole all the jewellery from the cupboard. Police registered the case immediately and began their investigation.
The fourth accused, Barkat Ali Khan, a jewellery craftsman from Balaram village, Medinipur district, West Bengal, reportedly melted the stolen gold jewellery.
Police are continuing the investigation to recover the stolen items and uncover any further accomplices involved in the theft.
