A 57-year-old man from Andhra Pradesh, Chintakindi Srinivasulu, was arrested for attending elite events at luxury hotels by impersonating guests and stealing foreign and domestic currency from unsuspecting delegates.
Srinivasulu was nabbed by Bengaluru Police weeks after a complaint was lodged by Roger Nienpo Sheng, an international delegate attending the APAC-2025 annual meeting at the Shangri-La Hotel, Bengaluru. The event, held between June 21 and June 28, hosted multiple foreign attendees.
On June 23, Sheng discovered that Rs300 and 3,000 Taiwanese dollars had gone missing from his bag. Following an investigation launched by the High Grounds Police, authorities zeroed in on Srinivasulu. After a weeks-long manhunt, he was arrested and interrogated.
During questioning, Srinivasulu confessed to stealing at multiple five-star hotels, posing as a delegate at various business and political events. His strategy involved blending in seamlessly with legitimate guests, making it difficult to detect the thefts until much later.
Police recovered Rs41,079, including:
Rs270
2,900 Taiwanese dollars
200 Australian dollars
10,000 Laotian Kip
Investigators have now linked him to two additional thefts at other high-end hotels. Police say more victims may come forward, and further investigation is underway.
