The Abia State Police Command has arrested GZ Zhen, a Chinese national, for the alleged murder of his employee, Ocheze Ogbonna. According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Maureen Chinaka, the suspect was apprehended following reports of the crime.

Sources close to the investigation revealed that Ogbonna, a crane operator at Zhen’s company, Inner Galaxy, was allegedly pushed to her death after rejecting the sexual advances of her employer. Witnesses reported that Zhen’s actions led to Ogbonna being pushed from a crane, resulting in fatal injuries.

Social media posts from users on X.com, including @IgboHistory&facts, suggested that Ogbonna’s refusal to engage with Zhen’s advances led to the tragic incident. Another user, @PIDOMNIGERIA, described Ogbonna as a hardworking and dignified individual, who had taken pride in her job as a crane operator despite its challenges.

In a statement, the PPRO confirmed that the police received a report of Ogbonna’s death and immediately arrested Zhen, who is currently in custody while investigations continue. Chinaka mentioned that the suspect is facing serious charges and further updates would follow as the investigation progresses.

This case is reminiscent of a 2022 incident in Kano, where another Chinese national, Frank Geng-Quangrong, was involved in the murder of his girlfriend, Ummukhulsum Buhari, known as Ummita. Geng-Quangrong was later sentenced to death by hanging in March 2024, after being convicted for the brutal killing.

The Abia police are actively working on the current case to ensure justice is served, though specific details about the date of the incident and further investigation have yet to be released.
