The Central Crime Station (CCS) police arrested two interstate thieves along with a receiver of stolen property and recovered valuables worth Rs26.5 lakh in Guntur on Monday.
Guntur district SP Vakul Jindal said the investigation began after a complaint was filed by Venkatappaiah Sastry of Sampath Nagar on November 11. Acting on the complaint, CCS police initiated a probe and soon detained two suspects, Chillara Rajesh and Kaja Naga Veera Bhaskara Rao, at Lalapet on suspicion.
During interrogation, both accused confessed to the thefts. Police also arrested Lanka Rajesh, who had purchased stolen valuables from them.
In total, police recovered:
152 grams of gold linked to the Sampath Nagar case
75 grams of gold and 182 grams of silver connected to other thefts
Altogether, 227 grams of gold and 182 grams of silver were seized in relation to four theft cases. The recovered property carries a market value of Rs26.5 lakh, officials confirmed.
