In a shocking case from Kadur taluk, Chikkamagaluru district police have arrested three accused, including a 33-year-old man named Pradeep, for conspiring with a 55-year-old woman, Meenakshamma, to murder her husband Subrahmanya.
The grisly crime surfaced after Subrahmanya’s burnt body was discovered near Kansagara Gate about a week ago. He had been reported missing by his wife, who filed a complaint at the local police station. Investigation teams linked the missing person report to the burnt body through forensic analysis.
Police revealed that Subrahmanya opposed the illicit relationship between his wife and Pradeep. In response, Pradeep and his accomplices Siddesh and Vishwas allegedly strangled Subrahmanya with a rope inside a Maruti Omni van. They then transported the body to a secluded spot, doused it with petrol mixed with sawdust, and set it ablaze to destroy evidence.
Authorities confirmed the trio acted for financial gain, with Pradeep enticing his friends with money. The police have seized the vehicle used in the murder and continue to investigate the case, preparing to file formal charges soon.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the region due to the brutal nature of the crime and the involvement of a woman’s affair as a motive.
