SEATTLE, Wash. (FOX 13 Seattle) — Ray Garcia-Morales, the principal of Chief Sealth International High School in West Seattle, was arrested on Sunday, February 4, 2025, after a domestic violence-related DUI incident.
According to court documents obtained by FOX 13 Seattle, Garcia-Morales was in a car with a woman when he grabbed the steering wheel while she was driving, causing the vehicle to flip. The victim told police she was afraid of Garcia-Morales and had a history with him, but she declined to press charges. She stated that Garcia-Morales had been drinking at a party and became aggressive when she suggested they leave.
The victim told officers that during their drive back to West Seattle, Garcia-Morales opened the car door and grabbed the wheel, leading to the crash. After the incident, Garcia-Morales was the only person found at the scene and initially claimed he was driving, though police noted his bloodshot eyes. The victim fled the scene because of her fear of Garcia-Morales.
The woman also alleged that Garcia-Morales had been verbally abusive in the past and had mistreated their family dog. Although no charges have been filed yet, the case remains under review by the police.
Seattle Public Schools has since sent a letter to students and faculty, confirming that Garcia-Morales has been forced out of his position following the incident. The school district has not released further details about the next steps.
