The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of Coimbatore city has arrested K. Indira Gandhi, 56, from Anna Nagar West in Chennai, and her accomplice G. Kavipriya, 29, from Ashok Nagar, on charges of cheating job aspirants out of over Rs2 crore.

Indira Gandhi, who had been posing as a former IPS officer, scientist, and research professor at Anna University, managed to deceive several job seekers. Her accomplice, Kavipriya, impersonated a sub-inspector with the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption. Together, the duo promised to secure government jobs for aspiring candidates in exchange for large sums of money.

The scam came to light when multiple victims reported being defrauded by the pair. After a thorough investigation, the CCB arrested both women on Saturday. The arrests have raised concerns about the rise of such impersonation schemes, where fraudsters take advantage of people’s career aspirations for financial gain.

The CCB is continuing the investigation to uncover the full extent of the scam and identify any additional victims.
