Former Prison Officer Chelsea Kemp Jailed for Smuggling Drugs into Three Prisons

A former prison officer who continued to smuggle drugs into prison even after a prior arrest is now serving time herself. Chelsea Kemp, 32, from Torre Close in Bletchley, has been sentenced to eight and a half years in prison by Aylesbury Crown Court.

Kemp collaborated with two men, Haydon Flavell, 27, and Omar Windross, 26, to smuggle drugs and other contraband into HMP Spring Hill, HMP Woodhill, and HMP Erlestoke. All three pleaded guilty to conspiring to convey prohibited items into prisons.

Despite being arrested in July 2021, Kemp denied the charges and was released. She continued her illegal activities for nearly another year. As a prison officer at HMP Aylesbury, she worked with inmate Windross to coordinate the supply of drugs into HMP Woodhill.

Kemp also instructed Flavell to carry out “throw-overs” of contraband at the three facilities and personally drove him to those prison locations. She was paid significant sums for her involvement, including one payment of £11,000 from a contact with links to the prison system.

The Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) confirmed the conspiracy occurred between September 2018 and June 2022.

Flavell, from North Ninth Street in Milton Keynes, received a sentence of four years and six months. Windross, who had no fixed address, was sentenced to three years in prison.
