LAKE ZURICH, IL – Two suburban high school cheerleading coaches are facing serious charges of theft and money laundering after police allege they stole thousands of dollars in school district funds for personal use.
According to the Lake Zurich Police Department, Gabriele N. Kelly, 26, from Algonquin, faces two counts of theft and two counts of money laundering. Kelly, the District 95 high school cheerleading coach, turned herself in on March 18, 2025.
A second coach, 33-year-old Kaylin Dietrich, also turned herself in on March 20. Dietrich faces similar charges, including two counts of felony theft and two counts of money laundering.
The investigation into the alleged thefts began in February after the Lake Zurich Community United School District 95 contacted police regarding “financial discrepancies” in invoicing handled by the cheerleading coaches.
Investigators discovered that Kelly had diverted $38,000 of school district funds for personal use. Kelly made her first court appearance on March 18, and Dietrich appeared in court on March 20.
The investigation remains ongoing.
