CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Terrick D. Lumpkin, 39, was sentenced Thursday to 42 months in federal prison and two years of supervised release after pleading guilty to conspiracy related to stealing luxury vehicles valued at over $1 million.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Western North Carolina revealed that Lumpkin and co-conspirators operated between November 2023 and January 2024 across several states, including North Carolina, Illinois, and New York. The group targeted high-end brands such as Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Lamborghini, Mercedes, Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, GMC, and Jeep, with several stolen cars recovered from Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Lumpkin frequently stored the stolen vehicles at his apartment complex parking garage and possessed a key fob programmer and blank key fobs to aid the thefts.
He is currently out on release and will be required to report to a federal prison facility upon designation.
Assistant U.S. Attorney William Bozin prosecuted the case.
This case follows related indictments in August and November 2023 involving other suspects connected to luxury car thefts across the southeastern U.S.
