Charleston Man Arrested in Connection with Fatal Hanahan Shooting

Deonte Calden Trevon Lancit, 18, faces armed robbery charge after Monday night shooting on Bowen Pier Drive

HANAHAN, S.C. — Deonte Calden Trevon Lancit, an 18-year-old from Charleston, has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred Monday night in the Hanahan area. The shooting left one person dead and has sparked an ongoing investigation by local authorities.

Lancit was arrested on an armed robbery charge following the incident, which occurred on Bowen Pier Drive, near the Domino’s Pizza. Hanahan Police Chief Rick Gebhardt confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, but details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain scarce.

On Tuesday morning, the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 18-year-old Tra’sean White, who was from Wadmalaw Island.

As of now, Lancit’s bond has not been set, and the investigation is continuing, with Hanahan Police working to uncover more details surrounding the shooting. Chief Gebhardt reiterated that the investigation is still active and that more information will be provided as it becomes available.

This tragic incident has left the local community in shock as authorities continue to seek answers.
