KINGSTREE, S.C. — Kingstree Police arrested Charles Robert Britt, 45, Tuesday afternoon in connection with a July shooting that resulted in the death of 30-year-old Tevin Goodman.
Police were called to the area of Railroad Avenue on July 7 around 5:06 a.m. after reports of an unresponsive man. Goodman was found at the scene and later died from gunshot wounds, according to Kingstree Police Chief Kimberly Marlow.
The arrest came after officers attempted to serve Britt with a warrant, but he initially failed to comply. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division’s SWAT team was called in for the standoff. Britt ultimately surrendered voluntarily and was taken into custody without incident.
Multiple agencies assisted in the operation, including the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office, Kingstree and Williamsburg County Fire Departments, EMS, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, and the Highway Patrol.
Britt was transported to the Williamsburg County Detention Center and charged with murder.
