Owensboro, KY — Two people have been arrested in connection with an active drug trafficking operation being run out of a motel in Daviess County, according to local law enforcement.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrests of 50-year-old Charles Hope and 40-year-old Billie Vasquez at a motel on West 2nd Street in Owensboro following multiple undercover drug buys.

During the search, officers uncovered a range of illegal substances and paraphernalia including methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription pills, digital scales, baggies, glass pipes, and a loaded, stolen handgun.

Authorities were especially concerned to find two young children living in the same unit, with unrestricted access to the illegal drugs and weapon. The Department of Community Based Services was called in to assist with child welfare.

Hope and Vasquez face numerous drug trafficking and possession charges, as well as child endangerment. Officials say more charges and arrests could follow as the investigation continues.
