Charles Green Arrested for Theft and Parole Violation in New Hartford

42-Year-Old Faces Larceny Charges After Fleeing From Police in Shoplifting Incident

New Hartford, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A 42-year-old man, Charles Green, was arrested on Saturday after absconding from parole and attempting to steal from a sidewalk sale at the New Hartford Shopping Center.

Police were called to the scene around 12:30 pm on February 15, following reports that Green had taken items from a sidewalk sale outside the Forever Leather store. When confronted by nearby shoppers, Green fled on foot, but the stolen merchandise was quickly recovered.

Officers located Green walking a short distance away, but when they attempted to stop him, he fled once again. A brief foot chase ensued, and Green was arrested without further incident.

Upon investigation, authorities discovered Green had outstanding warrants in New York State, including one for an active larceny charge in New Hartford and another for parole violation. Green had been on parole for a previous larceny conviction.

As a result of the incident, Green now faces the following charges:

Petit Larceny (Class A Misdemeanor)
Petit Larceny (from an open warrant, Class A Misdemeanor)
Parole Absconder Warrant
Green was processed at the New Hartford Police Department and transported to Oneida County Jail, where he remains in custody awaiting arraignment.
