NASH COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Two men are facing felony charges after deputies say searches in Nash and Harnett Counties led to the seizure of over 13 pounds of cocaine.

Charles Baker was charged with two counts of trafficking in cocaine and maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances.

Authorities say the investigation began around 8 a.m. Monday when Nash County deputies conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 95. Deputies reported smelling marijuana inside the vehicle and performed a search, discovering 13.6 pounds of cocaine hidden in a suitcase. Baker was taken to jail under a $4,000,000 secured bond.

Further investigation in Harnett County led deputies to Fred Pullen III. During a traffic stop on Old Stage Road, deputies seized $74,680 in cash. A subsequent search of his home revealed 3.7 ounces of cocaine, over an ounce of crack cocaine, and a firearm. Pullen was charged with trafficking in cocaine and possession of a firearm by a felon, and was taken to jail under a $125,000 secured bond.

Authorities say both arrests are part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal drug activity in North Carolina.
