BURBANK, Calif. – Two men were arrested Sunday after being caught digging a trench inside a fenced construction site, Burbank Police officials reported.
Officers responded around 7:15 a.m. on Nov. 9 following a report of suspicious activity. Upon arrival, police discovered Cesar Trejo, who admitted he was attempting to steal copper wire from exposed wiring. Trejo had an outstanding felony arrest warrant.
During the search, officers located a makeshift shelter where they found a second suspect, Jeremy Ward. Ward was in possession of suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia and also had an outstanding felony warrant.
Investigators recovered additional stolen copper wire and tools believed to be used in the theft. Both Trejo and Ward were taken into custody and charged with grand theft of copper wire along with related narcotics offenses.
Police continue to investigate the case for any further criminal activity linked to the suspects.
