A West Columbia man has been sentenced to federal prison after being convicted on multiple drug and firearm charges, officials said.
Cedrick Exzavius Reese, 45, received a three-year sentence for possession of crack cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The case began when a Richland County deputy observed a car speeding and running a stop sign, prompting a traffic stop. Reese could not provide a driver’s license but consented to a search. Officers discovered methamphetamine in a bag in his waistband, which Reese admitted was for personal use.
A search of his vehicle revealed additional contraband, including a firearm with ammunition, crack cocaine, and fentanyl. Reese’s prior drug convictions made him legally prohibited from possessing a firearm.
In addition to his prison sentence, Reese was ordered to pay a $5,000 fine and will be under court supervision for three years upon release. He is not eligible for parole.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
