The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Dhanraj Kumar Choudhary, also known as Dhananjay Kumar Choudhary, a recovery agent with Jharkhand Gramin Bank (JGB), on Wednesday for allegedly demanding and accepting a Rs15,000 bribe from a complainant in exchange for the release of an auctioned tractor.
The incident took place in Bokaro, where Choudhary was caught red-handed in a sting operation set up by the CBI. According to officials, the agent accepted the cash bribe at his residence shortly after the trap was laid.
The tractor in question had been legally purchased by the complainant through an auction held by the bank on February 10, 2025, after all due payments had been made. Despite this, Choudhary allegedly withheld the tractor and demanded Rs15,000 in cash to hand it over.
Upon receiving a formal complaint, the CBI registered a case on Tuesday and moved swiftly to catch the accused during the act of accepting the bribe.
A search operation was also conducted at Choudhary’s residence following his arrest. Officials confirmed that the investigation is ongoing to determine if others were involved or if similar incidents have occurred.
The CBI reiterated its commitment to tackling corruption in banking institutions and urged citizens to report such misconduct immediately.
