WATERTOWN, N.Y. – Two men are facing serious charges after a violent home invasion early Tuesday morning in Watertown, according to police.

Cayden Brown, 20, of Watertown, and Fred Soluri, 21, of Evans Mills, have been charged with:

First-degree burglary

Second-degree assault

Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon

Watertown police responded to an apartment at 540 Factory Street shortly after 1 a.m., where the suspects reportedly kicked in the door and attacked the resident, Keegan Buzzell. Authorities say the suspects were armed with a dagger and a loaded handgun.

Buzzell suffered a broken finger and contusions, but managed to wrestle the knife away and defend himself, causing injuries to both intruders. All three were treated at Samaritan Medical Center.

Brown and Soluri were arraigned, with bail set at $100,000 each. Police confirmed the parties knew each other, and though a motive hasn’t been confirmed, a possible drug-related connection hasn’t been ruled out.

Later that evening, around 8 p.m., officers returned to the same apartment after John Brown, 45, of Dexter, allegedly tried to kick in the door while yelling threats to kill Buzzell. Police believe John Brown is related to Cayden Brown.

He fled the scene but was arrested on Buchard Street. During the arrest, Brown reportedly spat on a police officer.

He was charged with:

Second-degree attempted burglary

Obstructing governmental administration

Harassment

John Brown’s bail was set at $2,500. The investigation is ongoing.
