WARSAW, IN — Cassandra Susan Steen, 31, of 1710 Latta St., Warsaw, was arrested on multiple charges including theft and drug possession following an incident at Walmart on May 10.
A Warsaw Police officer responded to a theft report and later stopped Steen’s vehicle. During the stop, a K9 unit alerted officers to the presence of illegal drugs, leading to the discovery of paraphernalia that tested positive for fentanyl.
Court documents state that after being confronted by Walmart’s asset protection staff, Steen left her shopping cart and items in the store’s vestibule. Surveillance footage showed her bypassing all points of sale with a cart full of merchandise valued at $358.35. An asset protection employee witnessed Steen concealing clothing items in Walmart bags and attempting to leave without paying.
Steen faces charges including theft, possession of a narcotic drug, theft with a prior conviction (from November 2022 in Whitley County), and possession of paraphernalia. She was released on bond and has an initial hearing scheduled for June 5 in Kosciusko Superior Court Three.
