LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. — Authorities have arrested a Harvest man following an investigation into a large-scale credit card fraud and fuel theft operation.
The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office began probing the case in January after receiving a complaint about stolen credit card information used to purchase large amounts of fuel at local gas stations. Investigators soon uncovered multiple fraudulent transactions involving stolen cards and significant diesel fuel purchases across several locations.
Using area CCTV footage, investigators identified 33-year-old Casey Dalton McDougal, who is believed to have ties to the Outlaw Motorcycle Gang. In coordination with the Athens Police Department, authorities obtained a search warrant for a residence on the 29000 block of Thunderpaw Drive.
During the search, the Limestone County Criminal Investigation Division and SWAT Team recovered 113 cloned credit cards, skimming and card-manufacturing equipment, and roughly 275 gallons of diesel fuel. McDougal was charged with two counts of identity theft. Authorities say additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.
“This case is a strong reminder of how quickly financial crimes can escalate,” Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin said. “What began as a single report of fraud led to the discovery of a large-scale card skimming operation impacting multiple jurisdictions. We encourage citizens to monitor their financial accounts and report any suspicious activity immediately.”
