LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man from Seward, 54-year-old Casey Kindt, has been charged with multiple felonies, including first-degree murder, following the fatal shooting of his ex-girlfriend, 36-year-old Jamie Hagen.
Court documents reveal that Kindt is facing charges of first-degree murder, use of a firearm to commit a felony, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, burglary, and child abuse. He is currently in custody at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha after an arrest warrant was issued on Friday.
The incident took place on the evening of February 8, around 11:45 p.m., when Kindt arrived at Hagen’s home and shot her. After the shooting, Kindt turned the gun on himself and was taken to Seward Memorial Hospital before being transferred to UNMC for further medical treatment.
Hagen had previously filed for a protection order against Kindt in December 2024, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
The investigation continues as authorities seek to uncover further details surrounding the tragic event.
