IRVING, Texas — Carrollton police officer Wes Melton, 42, was arrested early Friday morning by Irving police on a sexual assault charge, authorities confirmed.
Melton, who was off-duty at the time, was taken into custody around 1 a.m. near East Las Colinas Boulevard in Irving. Since joining the Carrollton Police Department in January 2024, Melton has served in the Patrol division.
Following his arrest, Melton has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of a criminal investigation and an Internal Affairs review. The charge against him is sexual assault, classified as a second-degree felony. No further details about the allegations have been disclosed.
Booking records show Melton was processed under the name Wes Masters Melton on June 21, 2025, at 2:30 a.m. As of June 22, he was no longer listed on the Irving or Dallas County jail rosters, with authorities yet to confirm whether he bonded out.
