MACON, Ga. — Authorities have made an arrest in connection with a fatal hit-and-run on Rocky Creek Road that occurred in August.
On that day, deputies discovered 23-year-old Ronni Nykole Abbott deceased at the scene, reportedly the victim of a hit-and-run, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office (BSO).
On Tuesday just after noon, the United States Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, with support from the BSO Response Team, took 21-year-old Carmelo Aamir Johnson of Macon into custody. Johnson had been identified as a suspect of interest in the investigation.
Johnson was transported to the Criminal Investigation Division for questioning before being held at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
He has been charged with Hit and Run Resulting in Death, First-Degree Felony Homicide by Vehicle, and Felony Probation Violation. Johnson is currently being held without bond.
