Carlos Zepeda-Ruiz Arrested in Hartford by ICE for Child Endangerment
HARTFORD, Conn. – Officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Boston have apprehended Carlos Antonio Zepeda-Ruiz, an undocumented Guatemalan national, on serious criminal charges including three counts of risk of injury to a child and disorderly conduct.
Zepeda-Ruiz was arrested by ICE officers in Hartford on February 27, following his initial arrest by the Bridgeport Police Department on July 23, 2024, for the same charges.
According to ICE, Zepeda entered the United States through the San Ysidro West Port of Entry on July 14, 2023, utilizing the “CBP One” immigration processing app. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued him a notice to appear before an immigration judge and allowed him into the country on parole.
“Carlos Antonio Zepeda-Ruiz apparently endangered the safety of a Connecticut child and presents a threat to the residents of Connecticut,” said Patricia H. Hyde, Acting Field Office Director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston. “We will not allow criminal aliens to endanger the safety of our communities.”
ICE stated that Zepeda will remain in custody pending removal proceedings before the U.S. Department of Justice.
