A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of 72-year-old Hussein Murray in Rochester Hills, Michigan. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the fugitive apprehension team arrested the suspect Monday afternoon during a traffic stop in Plymouth Township. This arrest follows the apprehension of Carlos Jose Hernandez, 37, in Louisiana.
Murray was found dead in his basement on Friday after two men, posing as DTE Energy workers, gained entry to his home. His wife, also 72, was found tied up, with her hands duct-taped. Hernandez and the second suspect are believed to have targeted Murray’s home due to his jewelry business.
Murray’s death was ruled a homicide by the Oakland County Medical Examiner. His family remembered him as a kind and generous man, with his grandson describing him as having a “heart of gold.”
Residents are urged to remain cautious of anyone claiming to be utility workers and to verify their identity before allowing them into their homes.
