Carl Hunter Jailed for Burglary, Theft, and Fraud in Reading

Carl Hunter, 42, from Tilehurst, Reading, has been sentenced to two years and five months in prison after pleading guilty to a series of crimes, including burglary, theft, and fraud. The offenses occurred during incidents in July 2024.

On July 27, Hunter broke into a shop on Bath Road, stealing items such as scratch cards. Two days later, on July 29, he targeted a store on Gatehampton Road, Goring, where he took an item without paying. That same day, Hunter broke into a house on Reading Road, stealing jewelry and a bank card. He then attempted to use the stolen card at a shop on West Street, Reading.

After a thorough investigation, Hunter was arrested on October 22 and charged the following day.

Detective Constable James Clancy of Thames Valley Police remarked, “These serious offenses have led to a well-deserved conviction and sentence. Hunter will now have time in prison to reflect on his unacceptable behavior, which Thames Valley Police will continue to combat.”

Hunter’s sentencing sends a strong message that such crimes will not be tolerated, and law enforcement will continue to hold offenders accountable for crimes that impact local communities.
