A 22-year-old man from Cape Girardeau, Jayden Harris, made his first appearance in court on Thursday, January 23, to face charges of burglary and rape. His arrest came after a victim reported an alleged sexual assault that took place on January 14.
According to police, the victim told authorities that Harris forced his way into her home. Court documents indicate that Harris allegedly said, “This is gonna happen. I don’t want to hurt you,” before the assault took place.
Harris remains in custody at the Cape Girardeau County Jail without bond. He is scheduled for his next court appearance on February 6.
