CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Two teenagers were arrested Friday night after a vehicle burglary escalated into a police pursuit in Cape Coral, according to the Cape Coral Police Department.

Officers responded to NE 20th Street following a citizen report of two males checking car door handles. The witness also described the suspect vehicle—a black Audi A4.

An officer located the vehicle near NE 23rd Street and attempted a traffic stop, but the Audi fled. Both suspects exited the vehicle and fled on foot in opposite directions.

With help from a K9 unit, police tracked down the driver, 19-year-old Xavier Ryan Scott, near a nearby canal. Investigators discovered Scott had no valid driver’s license, and the Audi was unregistered.

Operating an unregistered vehicle

Driving with a suspended or revoked license

The passenger, 18-year-old Kody Maddox Ghrist, was located later using K9 and UAV support. He was charged with:

Resisting an officer without violence

Both suspects were transported to the Lee County Jail following their arrests.
