KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office has terminated one of its deputies following his arrest on Tuesday, February 4, in Oak Ridge. Joshua Jeffers, 36, was arrested by Oak Ridge Police and charged with domestic assault. According to law enforcement, Jeffers, who served as a night shift supervisor at the sheriff’s office, responded to a fast food restaurant on Oak Ridge Turnpike where he noticed red marks around the victim’s neck and a bruise near their right eye.

Campbell County Sheriff Wayne Barton confirmed that Jeffers was dismissed from his position that same day following his arrest. The former deputy also faces additional charges in Scott County, where he has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault. This stems from an incident that occurred on February 2 and February 3, involving a domestic dispute at a home in Huntsville.

Jeffers’ dismissal comes just days after a Campbell County corrections officer was also fired following his arrest on multiple charges, including assault, official misconduct, and reckless endangerment. Both cases highlight ongoing issues within the department regarding alleged misconduct.
