Camp Pendleton Marine Arrested on Child Sex Charges

Justin Ryder Simmons Extradited to Colorado, Released on Bond

by Amelia Crawford

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A 19-year-old Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton, Justin Ryder Simmons, was arrested in June on multiple child sex crime charges. The arrest followed an investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit in Colorado, according to a statement released by the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO).

Simmons allegedly used Snapchat and his phone number to contact minors and exploit them online. Authorities say he used the Snapchat handle “simmonsj6842” and the phone number 970-308-5998 to reach out to potential victims.

He was taken into custody by San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies on June 16 and later extradited to Colorado. On June 27, Simmons was booked into the Arapahoe County Detention Facility and released shortly after on a $25,000 bond.

Investigators believe there may be more victims and are continuing to follow leads. ACSO urges anyone with information to come forward.
