During a targeted anti-narcotic operation in Cachar district, Assam, police seized 388 grams of heroin valued at approximately Rs 2.20 crore and arrested three drug peddlers, officials confirmed.

Acting on intelligence, Cachar police intercepted a vehicle coming from a neighboring state late Tuesday night. Hidden inside 30 soap boxes, authorities discovered the large heroin stash. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Partha Protim Das said the operation was carried out based on precise sources.

“Vehicle registration MZ-02C-1553 was intercepted, leading to the recovery of 388 grams of heroin from a concealed compartment,” SSP Das stated.

The operation took place in the Dhudhpatil area under Silchar police station. Three suspects, all in their early twenties and residents of Bhanga Bazar under Dholai police station, were apprehended. They have been identified as Dildar Hussain (25), Nazrul Hussein (20), and Jasim Uddin (25).

SSP Das further revealed that the vehicle was en route to Guwahati, and investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the trafficking network. “Legal action has been initiated to uncover the forward and backward linkages. The market value of the seized drugs is estimated at Rs 2.20 crore,” he added.

This follows another major seizure in Cachar, where police recovered 90,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 26 crore from a truck in the Rongpur area. Two individuals, Dalim Uddin Laskar and Abed Sultan Barbhuiya, were apprehended in that operation. SSP Das confirmed that the seizure was based on intelligence inputs, and investigations are ongoing.
