C. Selvakumar Killed by Accomplice in Kolathur

Dispute turns deadly at Kaveripuram Bus Stop

by Ananya Mehta

A 38-year-old man, C. Selvakumar of Palavadi near Kolathur, was allegedly murdered by his former accomplice E. Kumar (35) following a quarrel on Sunday night.

Selvakumar and Kumar had previously committed a murder in 2022. Both were arrested and imprisoned, but after being released on bail, Selvakumar failed to appear in court. The Mettur Court issued a warrant against him, leading to his arrest in March this year. He was released from prison just a few days ago.

Police reported that on Sunday around 10 p.m., the duo consumed liquor at Kaveripuram Bus Stop. A quarrel broke out, during which Kumar allegedly attacked Selvakumar with a wooden log, causing grievous injuries. Selvakumar died on the spot.

The Kolathur police were alerted and sent the body to Mettur Government Hospital for postmortem. Kumar, who was reportedly inebriated at the time, was arrested at the scene. A case has been registered, and police investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances of the attack.
