C Naresh Murder: Two Accused Arrested in Hyderabad by SIT

Malkangiri journalist’s killers nabbed; probe aided by forensic team

In a significant development, the Malkangiri Police have arrested two men in connection with the murder of web journalist C Naresh, who was brutally attacked on July 12, 2025, near Muruliguda village under Motu police limits in Odisha’s Malkangiri district.

The accused, Sukumar Ray (25) and Konkan Jordar (21), both residents of Malkangiri, were apprehended from Hyderabad, where they had fled to avoid arrest. Their capture marks a breakthrough in the high-profile case that shocked the region.

According to Superintendent of Police Vinod Patil, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed under the leadership of Additional SP Rashmi Ranjan Senapati and DSP R Pradhan, with scientific support from the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL).

Forensic experts and the SIT collected key evidence from the crime scene, including vehicle traces and surveillance data. Police also recovered the vehicle used by the victim and his friends, along with the motorcycle used by the accused during the assault.

Thanks to technical surveillance and local intelligence, the accused were tracked down in Hyderabad. They are being brought back to Odisha, where they will be produced in court and taken into police remand for further interrogation.

SP Patil confirmed that the police have sufficient forensic and technical evidence to prosecute the case successfully.
