BURLINGTON, Vt. — A Burlington man, Lance Mason, was arrested on Thursday after a series of burglaries, including theft from the campaign office of Senator Bernie Sanders.

The Burlington Police Department responded on January 2 to reports of multiple break-ins at businesses located at 131 Main. According to court documents, 54-year-old Mason first broke into the Burlington Telecom office, where he disconnected a Wi-Fi router in the basement. He then proceeded to break into several other offices, including the Church Street Marketplace and the campaign office of Senator Bernie Sanders.

Inside the Sanders campaign office, Mason allegedly stole multiple items and entered a locked safe. Additionally, police say Mason used a stolen city of Burlington credit card to make purchases, including shoes at a Journeys store in the University Mall.

Mason, who has an extensive criminal record with 34 felonies, 18 misdemeanors, and four escape charges, was arrested in connection to the burglaries. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter.
