Budgam Police have successfully solved a theft case involving the stealing of paddy from a granary. The investigation led to the arrest of the accused and the recovery of stolen property.
On March 20, a complaint was filed by Ghulam Mohammad Rather, a resident of Wadwan, regarding the theft of paddy from his granary during the night of March 19-20. A case was registered under FIR No. 59/2025, and further investigation was initiated by the Police Station Budgam.
During the investigation, several suspects were questioned. One of them, Umar Farooq Dar, also a resident of Wadwan, confessed to the crime, admitting that he had stolen the paddy and sold it to Toha Yousuf Dar of Gotapora Soibugh.
The police recovered 3 quintals of stolen paddy from the possession of the accused, leading to the arrest of Umar Farooq Dar. Toha Yousuf Dar is also under investigation in connection with the sale of the stolen goods.
In their statement, the police urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help maintain law and order in the district.
