Budgam Police Arrest Three in Tower Site Theft Cases

Three accused held for multiple thefts of telecom equipment

Budgam Police on Tuesday announced the arrest of three accused in connection with multiple thefts at telecom tower sites within the Charar-i-Sharief subdivision.

The police received a complaint from Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, a site technician with Altus Company, regarding an attempted theft at a Jio Reliance tower site in Kakawring. An FIR (No. 46/2025) was registered at Police Station Charar-i-Sharief, prompting a swift investigation.

During the probe, police uncovered several similar thefts at tower sites in the region. Interrogation of suspects led to the confession of involvement by two accused in the Kakawring incident and another theft at a tower site in Hanjura village.

On their disclosures, police recovered eight stolen telecom tower batteries. The arrested individuals were identified as Gulzar Ahmad Ganie, Mohammad Rafi Khan, and Mohd Shafi Dar. They have been transferred to Police Station Chadoora in connection with FIR No. 120/2025.

In their statement, police reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing vigilance and preventing criminal activity in the area, ensuring public safety and upholding the rule of law.
