Homeless man used movie prop cash in Watertown deal

by Sophia Bennett

WATERTOWN, N.Y. — A 39-year-old homeless man, Bryant Sanford, has been arrested for allegedly using fake movie prop money to purchase a bicycle in Watertown.

According to the Watertown Police Department, the incident occurred in August when Sanford used counterfeit cash — designed for motion picture use — to buy a $75 bicycle from a local resident.

The fake bills closely resembled real currency but were clearly marked with phrases such as “Motion Picture Use Only.”

Sanford was arrested on Franklin Street and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument and petit larceny.

He was arraigned and is currently being held without bail at the Jefferson County Jail.
