GULF SHORES, Ala. — Bryant Douglas Nugent, 29, of Foley, has been arrested for stealing mail from dozens of Baldwin County residents following a coordinated investigation by the Gulf Shores Police Department, Foley Police Department, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
The investigation began on Nov. 17, 2025, when postal inspectors contacted Gulf Shores police about stolen U.S. mail. Detectives from both local departments, working with federal inspectors, recovered stolen mail from a postal service contractor’s vehicle.
A subsequent search warrant executed at Nugent’s Foley residence uncovered additional stolen mail. Authorities identified approximately 72 impacted residences, mostly in West Fort Morgan, Gulf Shores. Nugent faces two counts of felony mail theft under Alabama’s new law, which classifies offenses based on the number of addresses affected.
“This case highlights the importance of interagency cooperation. The dedication of federal and local partners was crucial in protecting Baldwin County residents,” officials said.
The investigation remains active, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Gulf Shores Police Department at 251-968-2431 or [email protected]
