Bryant Lanorris Baldwin Charged in Raleigh Murder Case

Victim Derrick Bell died after Sept. 12 shooting on Pettis Place

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – A man has been charged with murder following a deadly shooting in a Raleigh neighborhood last week, according to the Raleigh Police Department.

Officers were called to the 1100 block of Pettis Place around 2 a.m. on Sept. 12 in response to a reported shooting. Upon arrival, they found 42-year-old Derrick Bell suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries but later died.

Following an investigation, police arrested 43-year-old Bryant Lanorris Baldwin in connection with the incident. Baldwin is facing several charges, including:

Murder

Discharging a weapon into an occupied property

Possession of a firearm by a felon

Court documents show Baldwin was held without bond and was scheduled to appear for his first hearing in Wake County court on Tuesday.

The investigation remains ongoing.
