by Ananya Mehta

Two brothers, Wasim Akram and Haseen, residents of Upala Mohalla, Nagina, were arrested near Jaisinghpur village in Nuh for running an online hotel booking scam. The duo created multiple fake profiles on social media, offering attractive hotel deals at popular holiday destinations to lure victims. They collected money from unsuspecting customers, but never confirmed any bookings.

The Nuh cyber police acted after receiving a complaint from a Maharashtra resident who lost Rs 24,000 while attempting to book a hotel online. Upon arrest, authorities recovered five mobile phones and seven SIM cards from the accused.

Further investigation revealed that the brothers used forged documents to open bank accounts where they funneled the scammed money. They frequently withdrew cash using ATM cards linked to these accounts.

Police are continuing their probe to determine if the brothers are part of a larger network and if they have committed similar frauds elsewhere.
